Pickleball Tournament Raises Funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Over 100 pickleball players from the Tri-Cities region came together on the weekend to help support an important cause. A two-day pickleball tournament brought out players of all ages and skill levels to compete.
The proceeds from the event went directly to St. Jude Childrenβs Hospital. Tournament organizer Bo Cotten, a first-year medical student, was thrilled by the community support. He remarked,Β
βThis is proof that Johnson City cares about helping people. Iβm grateful that everyone rallied together for such an excellent cause.β
Players appreciated being able to participate in friendly competition while also fundraising for such a worthwhile charity. Alex Mays, one of the tournament participants, said,
Β
βItβs been great to see the big turnout and support. Bo has put in a lot of work to organize this, and itβs cool to see how the community has come out to support St. Jude through pickleball.β
The pickleball tournament was fun for the local community to engage in their favorite sport while raising money for the lifesaving research and treatment St. Jude provides to children battling cancer and other illnesses.
Organizers hope this inaugural event can continue to grow in the future.
